To reduce future flooding and increase flood resilience in the Cypress Creek Watershed through comprehensive mitigation and funding plan.

To serve the public as a governmental entity providing a unified voice in the Cypress Creek Watershed.
Purpose. . .
The purpose of the Special District is to provide an entity to evaluate, recommend, and move forward much-needed action regarding Cypress Creek flood mitigation issues.
Current Status. . .
A bill proposing the creation of the Cypress Creek Drainage Improvement District was approved by the Texas Legislature May 30, 2023. Temporary Board Members, Mark Adam, Dr. Calvin Cobb, Clara Lewis, Joe Myers, Barbara Schlattman, will be sworn-in November 2023.
The Special District temporary board of directors is comprised of representatives from the area organizations that have worked for the creation of the District and reside within the Cypress Creek Watershed.

Powers of taxation are not sought in the current bill that was approved by the Texas State Legislature.

- The Texas State Legislature approved a bill to create the Special District.
- A district-wide election will be held, for confirmation of the creation of the Special District and to elect permanent Board of Directors.
- The Board will proceed to investigate viable flooding mitigation options, develop a plan and costs, and present to the District’s voters for approval.
Powers of taxation are not sought in the current bill that was approved by the Texas State Legislature.
